BOOKINGS, PAYMENT
+ CANCELLATION POLICY
Due to the demand for bookings and the small class numbers, The Bench | School for Jewellery has a strict cancellation and refund policy. To request a cancellation, refund, or credit please email info@thebench.nz at least 14 days prior to the start date of your class.
Cancellations made 14 days prior to the class start date will receive a full refund, minus fees; up to 7 days prior, you will receive a 50% refund minus fees; cancellations made less than 7 days prior are unable to be refunded unless there are exceptional circumstances. Please take care when making your booking that you will be able to attend. You can send a friend in your place, just let us know via email before the start date. If you are unwell or unable to attend a session, we do not offer make-up classes.
The Bench reserves the right to cancel courses if they are under the minimum numbers required to run. You will be offered a credit to join a future course of the same value.
RENT-A-BENCH HIRE
By enrolling and paying for your bench hire you are confirming that you’ve read and agree to the policies below.
● The Health + Safety and Bookings, Payment + Cancellation Policies are understood and agreed to.
● You must have prior experience to book a bench for hire. Bench hire does not include tutoring, if you require help please book an Assisted Bench Hire or 1-1 tutoring.
● Be mindful that there may be a daytime class being held on the day you book, and that The Bench is a shared space for makers.
● If you have hand tools such as a saw, pliers, and files, it would be helpful to bring these along.
● Bring your own materials. We will have a limited range of silver to purchase at $3.50/gram, gold will need to be purchased by the student.
● You will be responsible for the safe and careful use of tools and equipment and will be required to pay for any damages you incur.
HEALTH + SAFETY LIABILITY WAIVER
The Bench | School for Jewellery takes your health and safety very seriously and has identified and mitigated risks associated with jewellery making. By enrolling and paying for your course or bench hire you agree to take on full responsibility for any damages to The Bench’s or your own personal property, and to any physical injuries which might occur while participating. You will be instructed about risks at the beginning of your course.
● You must wear closed in shoes such as sneakers, you cannot attend if you wear sandals or open shoes.
● Please arrive on time as a compulsory health and safety briefing will be given. If you are late and miss the briefing for your first course at The Bench, you will not be able to attend and will not be eligible for a refund (see our refund policy).
● Bring glasses for close up work.
● Tie up long hair.
● Do not wear loose or flammable clothing.
● Do not operate any equipment that you haven’t been shown how to use.
● Protective equipment such as glasses, earmuffs, and masks will be provided where required.
PRIVATE CLASSES / EVENTS
The Bench | School for Jewellery requires 50% payment upon the booking of a private class or event, with the remainder to be paid at least 7 days prior to the class date. Cancellations made 14 days prior to the date will be offered another date. If unable to find another suitable time a full refund of the deposit will be given, minus booking fees. If the class is cancelled less than 7 days before the start date no refund will be given.
PHOTOGRAPHY / VIDEOGRAPHY
The Bench | School for Jewellery reserves the right to take photographs and video footage during workshops. We intend to use this footage for marketing our workshops and school. We agree to be respectful and will not use imagery that identifies you unless agreed upon. Please let us know if you don’t want to be included in any digital imagery.
